Ten Tips to Make Your Travels Easier and More Relaxing

Planning a wedding can be stressful; a little advanced planning can ensure that your honeymoon is relaxing and enjoyable.

You've planned every last detail of your wedding, but have you planned your honeymoon? A little advanced planning can ensure that you have a relaxing and enjoyable honeymoon.

Make Reservations Early
Make your hotel, airline, train, car, etc., travel reservations early. This ensures that you'll most likely get what you want, and if there are any changes you will have plenty of time to adapt.

In addition, make sure to tell everyone you come in contact with that you'll be on your honeymoon. From the airline reservations agent to the cab driver who picks you up, tell them you're honeymooners and you might receive special treatment or perks.

Apply for Passports
Most international travel requires a passport; apply early to avoid delays and extra fees.

Pack Smart
Pack items that you might need along the way, such as snacks, extra bottles of water, extra film or memory sticks for cameras, batteries, and other essentials in your carry on luggage or other easily accessible luggage. Keep passports, money cards, phone cards, and a list of phone numbers handy as well.

Be sure to pack comfortable shoes if your destination will include a lot of walking.

Make it Yours
You might wish to pack a CD of meaningful songs or program a playlist on your personal music player, such as songs from your wedding ceremony or reception. Listen to the music in your room to set a romantic setting.

Stay Healthy
If you are traveling overseas, make sure you are up to date on any vaccinations you might need. Also check with your health insurance carrier to ensure that you'll be covered should you need it while you're gone.

Ask for What You Want
When it comes to customer service, the best way to get what you want is to ask for it. If your hotel room isn't the ocean front room you requested, be sure to tell someone so they can fix it.

Talk to the Locals
Talk to the hotel concierge, fellow passengers, waitstaff -- anyone local -- to get the inside scoop on your destination. Locals know where the best deals are, or where you might be able to find something specific you're looking for.

Go with the Flow
If something does go wrong, don't stress -- just go with it. Sometimes the most memorable parts of trips are the parts that were unplanned or that had gone wrong; just relax and try to go along with it and you might be surprised.

Bring Home Memories
Souvenirs are a great way to keep the memories of your trip fresh. Look for locally made items for authentic reminders of where you honeymooned, such as decorations or houseware items for your new home, jewelry, or other accessories.

Don't forget your parents, bridal party or anyone else who helped make your wedding day special -- give them a special thank you gift by remembering them with something authentic.
