Question: Do you have any motivation tips? I'm really struggling to stick to a diet and an exercise routine. I don't get married until Sept next year but I would like to lose about 4 stone.

Expert Advice: Your wedding is next September and you want to lose 4 stone - this is doable but I suggest you aim to lose just three and then reassess. I suggest you first operate my carb curfew - that's no bread, pasta, rice pr potatoes after 5 pm - it really works , reduces bloating, and helps you count calories without making it complicated.

Exercise - The first two months, I suggest a pure cardio plan - try my Step Counter Diet, you can walk off 10 pounds in 10 weeks! Then we can move on to more toning and boosting your cardio. Doing it gradually will really help - it'll boost your self esteem and is a lot more effective – the weight will come off and can stay off!

Question: I’m 5ft 10 and weigh about 11 stone.?My problem areas are my thighs and bottom. How can I get rid of this excess flab? I’ve only got nine weeks left until my wedding. I hate diets as I can’t stick to them but I do eat fairly healthy and walk about five miles every day. What exercise would you recommend?

Expert Advice: If you are walking five miles a day and not seeing results, either you are eating more than you think or you are walking at the wrong pace.

To help you walk at a pace that will improve your fitness, first establish your break-point walking pace. To find this, start walking and progressively increase your pace each 30 seconds (speeding up your arm swing really helps) until you are just about to break into a jog. This is your break point. Ease back off this pace by 5-10% and you have your optimum walking pace.

Question: There have been lots of discussion on the weight-loss chat forum here about the 'Lemonade Diet' - drinking only water, maple syrup, lemon juice and cayenne pepper and not eating anything. Do you know anything about its effects? Does it really work without piling the weight back on as soon as you start eating again?

Expert Advice: The Lemonade Diet? Don’t do it! You are setting yourself off on a road of failure by starting to follow a fad diet like this. By following this you will only put it all back on again and then you'll be looking for the next quick fix and so on. You will be moving further away from sustainable weight management.

Question: I am 23 months away from my wedding and want to have lost about five stone by then. I'm 5ft 3 and weigh 13 stone and hope to get down to eight or less. My main aim, however, is to reduce my dress size from 18 to 12 or 14. I always eat five a day and have really cut down on meat and pasta, rice etc. The problem I have is exercise, I have weak ankles as I broke them a lot when I was a child and I find a lot of exercises very painful, like running, for instance. My major issue is that I want to tone up my arms and stomach. I have tried sit-ups and lifting weights but I would like to know if there is more that I can do. ?

Expert Advice: Since your ankle is a little weak I suggest a morning instant booster programme (see Drop a Size for Life DVD) it only takes 10 minutes but will instantly make you feel and look slimmer. Definitely do my carb curfew but also there is a six-week easy-to-follow plan in my Drop a Size GI diet - most people lose 10 pounds in just six weeks!

Question: What is a sensible calorie allowance if you want to lose weight? I am 5'6'' and 10 stone.

Expert Advice: I think 1400 - 1600 is a good range. By combining daily walking you can most definitely get a firm bottom and a toned body.

Question: I need some motivation to exercise and lose weight. I am a size 8/10 but not toned and have a flabby tummy and thighs. I always feel ugly when I’m at the gym so I don’t go very often. Can you recommend a good brand of exercise wear?

Expert Advice: Exercise Kit - They have some really nice stuff and you can buy online. For motivation, you need to make sure what you SAY, what you DO, and what you THINK are all in the same position and direction so you have faith in yourself.
