What’s your Colour Code?

Okay so you like to look your best when you step out! Don’t we all? Do you really need to have Katrina Kaif’s figure, Preity Zinta’s complexion or Kajol’s hair to stand out? If you haven’t been blessed with all these, how about making a style statement that anyway makes you stand out in a crowd? We are talking about changing colours…and picking colours that suit you best…

You don’t need designer wear to stand out. The colours you wear can make or break you! You don’t need a style guru or a fashion designer to tell you which colours go best on you. The best person to give the verdict, is you!

Secret Code
How will you know which colours are good for you? We will let you in on the secret code…

  • Check your skin tone. If you are very fair, go for baby pink, white, powder blue, fuschia, ivory, green, peach, black, red etc. In short all colours go on fair skin.

  • If you are wheatish in complexion, go for earthy shades: ochre, orange, yellow, rust etc.

  • If your complexion is dark, hold colours against you to see if they do anything for you. Your shades should be maroon, deep rust, old rose, certain shades of yellow, silver gray etc.

  • When shopping, always hold the colour against your skin tone, to see how you will look in the colour.

  • Most Indians can carry off orange, red, maroon, pink, fuschia, magenta and black with ease. Remember bright colours reflect on your skin.

  • Light eyes? Go for turquoise, navy, emerald green, ocean, leaf green etc. These colours reflect in your light eyes!

  • Hair colour matters too. Dark hair goes with rust, coral, orange, yellow, maroon etc.

  • Lighter shades of hair colour, like light brown goes with blue-green family as well as white, cream / ivory, lilac, beige etc

Day Code
Are there colours you can only wear during the day? Yes of course! Pastels, beige, lilac, ivory, lemon, pinks and other soft shades look best for the day. If you live in a hot city, go with light colours. If where you live is cold, you can get away with red, turquoise or black during the day as well!

Night Code
Ah! Black is the colour for the night! You just can’t go wrong with it. Even if you repeat an outfit in black, no one will ever really notice! Apart from black, go for bright shades like fuschia, blood red, emerald green, turquoise, buttercup yellow and magenta for a night out. Peach, orange, tangerine, rust, maroon are foolproof colours for the night. They go on most skin tones.

So, spend a little time to figure out which colours go best on you, and then step out with confidence!
